As members of Utthan began to show signs of leadership - assertion, negotiation, individual and collective actions to seek changes in their personal lives, in systems they were part of, Kamonohashi and CIFF proposed to support a leadership development programme that would support social impact organisations design and implement leadership development programmes with victims and survivors of human trafficking.

And the Leadership Next Programme was initiated in 3 states of India, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh. 10 NGOs in these three states were supported to develop and build leadership development projects with survivors of sex trafficking, women in sex work and survivors of labour trafficking. Gradually, this programme has expanded to 21 survivors’ collectives spread across 6 states now.
